About Us
Our Mission
Legacy Land Trust conserves and protects key natural, scenic
and agricultural lands of northern Colorado that make this
region a special place to live and work.
Who We Are
Legacy Land Trust is a regional, private, non-profit corporation
established in 1993 with goal of protecting northern Colorado’s
rich natural and agricultural heritage. We received our non-profit
status in 1995 and hired our first staff member in 1998. We
work with landowners, other non-profit land conservation organizations
and governmental entities to protect the special places of
this region. We are a non-political organization and pour every
dollar contributed to us toward our voluntary land conservation
efforts. The Land Trust is qualified as a charitable organization
under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code.

Protected Lands
The Legacy Land Trust has completed 100 conservation
projects protecting 34,000 acres of agricultural lands,
wildlife habitat, wetlands, scenic views and open space in
Larimer, Northern Weld and Jackson counties.
Each of these easements
represents a collaborative effort between the Land Trust and
private landowners, and in many cases, local government agencies
and other organizations.
Over the last three years, Legacy Land Trust has protected over 16,700 acres at a cost of about $36 per acre!
